At present, over 5 million people in the United States have Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia and someone new is added to those ranks every 66 seconds. It is now the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. By 2050, experts predict there will be as many as 14 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease. There are no survivors and there is no cure. There are an estimated 170,000+ families in NC dealing with dementia. All monies raised stay here in NC. The Lenoir County Walk raises funds for Alzheimer’s NC, Inc. to provide family counseling; hold educational conferences and workshops; train family and professional caregivers; provide free information, materials, and lending libraries of books and videos; develop support groups; and advocate for the rights of individuals with dementia. Come joins us in supporting this important cause.
